Your jewellery is made from precious metals which are malleable by nature, meaning the metal can be moved if pressure is applied.

Your jewellery may:

Catch on clothing or be bent by objects.
Receive knocks during everyday wear and use.
Become worn down from excessive cleaning.

Care Instructions

Your Browns piece should be handled with care and attention, by taking a few precautions with your jewellery you will be able to preserve its original beauty and maintain longevity.

Remove your jewellery before sleeping. Your jewellery can get caught on bedding and cause damage.

Remove your jewellery when you are working with your hands e.g. gardening, cleaning, and cooking.

Remove your jewellery when showering, bathing or swimming.

Remove your jewellery when participating in physical activities e.g. gym, sport etc.

Avoid direct contact with perfume, body lotion, hair sprays and other chemicals. Chemicals could cause the metal or stones to discolour or appear dull, and with Pearls it can remove their lustre altogether.

Avoid abrasive chemically infused jewellery cleaners and cloths. Use a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water to clean your fine jewellery. Dry it with a soft microfibre cloth.

We recommend you to store your jewellery separately in the Browns box that you were given at the time of purchase. Pieces of jewellery can scratch when they come into contact with one another.

Tennis bracelet care

The Browns Protea Tennis Bracelet

Due to the characteristics of precious metals, the metal links on your Tennis Bracelet may stretch and/or break if it is worn daily or inappropriately. Depending on the wearer, your bracelet may need to be reset every 5 to 10 years.

To protect the first link, ensure that you push the clasp down fully when putting your tennis bracelet on or taking it off. It is always best to have someone else assist you.

Always hold the clasp section of the bracelet when putting it on or taking it off, as holding onto the moveable links can cause it to break.

Your Browns jewellery should be the last thing you put on before leaving your home, and the first thing you remove when you arrive home.

Hollow Gold Jewellery Care

Our hollow gold jewellery is made using advanced technology to create desirable pieces which are light in weight, making them very comfortable to wear. This means that these pieces cannot be repaired but instead must be remade.

CARING FOR YOUR HOLLOW JEWELLERY

Special care should be taken not to dent or damage your pieces. We recommend storing your gold jewellery in the Browns box it came in, separate from other pieces. In the event that your jewellery does get damaged and you would like to replace it, we will offer you a 50% credit on your original piece within the first two years of purchase.

CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY

When cleaning your jewellery, take note of any loose stones or damage that needs to be repaired. If stones are loose, stop wearing the jewellery until it can be fixed. Be sure not to leave soft gems such as pearls soaking in water for too long as it may affect their lustre. Carefully pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Never place coloured stones under a hot hair-dryer or in hot water.
